Police armed response was called to an address in Elliots Town

A 45-year-man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill after armed officers were called to a house in Elliots Town.

Police said they received reports from concerned residents at around 9.30am on Wednesday, January 10, and attended an address in Elliots Town, near New Tredegar

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of [making] threats to kill and a number of air weapons were recovered from the address.

“Following investigations, the man was released with no further action and enquiries into the weapons seized are ongoing.

“No-one was injured during the incident.”

Inspector Ryan Francis said: “Officers, including armed officers, attended the property. However I’d like to stress that this was an isolated incident with no threat to the wider public.”
