Volunteer drivers needed for Caerphilly branch of charity Contact the Elderly

News | | Published: 15:27, Tuesday February 6th, 2018.

The Caerphilly town branch of charity Contact the Elderly is appealing for volunteer drivers.

For the last three years, the branch has been holding tea parties for people who live alone over the age of 75.
It needs volunteer drivers to help party-goers get to the venues.

The volunteer drivers give up two to three hours once a month.

Christopher Boughton, local volunteer coordinator, explained: “The afternoon teas rely on the generous support of volunteer hosts and drivers.

“In the Caerphilly town area the parties are kindly hosted by a number of local churches once a month on a Sunday afternoon with the venue changing each month.

“The guests are picked up from their homes by a volunteer driver that they have previously met and the drivers also attend the tea party returning the guests safely home when the party is over.”

• People interested in supporting the group as a volunteer driver and would like further information please call Christopher Boughton on 07759 959364.
