Community groups and projects based in the community council area of Rhymney can apply for funding from the Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm Community Fund.

The wind farm’s annual community fund will make index-linked payments of £30,000 a year for the next 25 years.

There are two closing dates each year, with £15,000 available each time. The first deadline for applications is April 11.

The fund will be administered by grant-making charity GrantScape. A local advisory group has been established to help decide how the grants will be awarded.

The group is currently looking for two further residents to join them, one from each of the two community council areas.

The Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm is expected to generate over 17000MW hours of electricity per year on average, enough to power more than 4,300 households with clean, efficient green energy.

For more information about the Fund, visit www.grantscape.org.uk or call 01908 247630.
