Caerphilly powerlifter Dylan Davies narrowly lost out in the British equipped powerlifting championships in Stanhope Hall, Horncastle, in Lincolnshire, organised by the GB Powerlifting Federation.

Caerphilly-man Davies broke three Masters and one Welsh record. He benchpressed 187.5 kg, deadlifted 270kg and 702.5kg total records at the 120kg plus weight limit.

The 47-year-old Welshman weighs in at 127kg but was beaten into second place by James Brincat-Smith, who weighed a whopping 31 stone (192kg).

“He may have beaten me but at least he didn’t eat me,” Davies quipped.
