Inspectors from schools watchdog Estyn have praised pupils and staff at Hendre Junior School near Trecenydd.
Estyn rated the school as “good” in key areas.
The school has 222 pupils and head teacher John Farmer has been in post since April 2013.
Mr Farmer said: “Everyone associated with the school is thrilled to receive such a positive endorsement.
“There was a much greater onus on the children, their work and their views in this inspection and they really shone – as they do every day. We are so proud of them all.”
Chair of Governors Caroline Bennett added: “The inspection report is very positive and confirms that Hendre Junior School is a happy, successful school that nurtures our pupils to become confident, independent learners.
“I am particularly pleased that the report recognises the pride and passion that the children show about the school and their work and that the teaching and support staff have the highest expectations of the pupils.”
The report also said that most pupils made strong progress in their learning and that staff ensured a very caring, nurturing environment was at the school.
Inspectors noted: “The head teacher leads the school well with significant improvement in standards, outcomes, attendance and provision since his arrival.”
