A shocking discovery was made at a Caerphilly business park when a badly decomposed rabbit in a burnt cage was found on April 26.
The decomposing and potentially burned body of a rabbit was dumped in a cage on Caerphilly Business Park, Van Road, prompting an RSPCA Cymru appeal for information.
Officers from the animal welfare charity were alerted after a member of the public found the cage.
The rabbit was found in a cage, with the animal’s body very decomposed.
A food bowl, bedding and water bowl looked like they had been burned. It is unclear whether the body of the rabbit had also been burned.
RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information, calling on anyone who may know the background to contact the charity’s inspectorate appeal line.
It is unclear whether the rabbit was dead or alive when the cage was initially dumped.
RSPCA inspector Sophie Daniels said: “This shocking discovery was made in Caerphilly Business Park off Van Road yesterday.
“The poor rabbit was found as little more than fur and bones, with the body very decomposed and potentially burned.
“Clearly, this cage has been dumped – but we do not know whether the rabbit was dead or alive when this happened. A water bowl and bottle appear to be badly burned.
“We’re eager to find out more information about this disturbing incident. Our inspectorate appeal line can be reached on 0300 123 8018, and calls are treated in confidence.”
Yet another sickening story regarding animal cruelty – penalties for offenders must be to impose a custodial sentence.
Totally agree John. Humans are a cruel species and do this type of stuff to animals only because they can. It is about time the legal system was used fully to put people away for a long jail time as punishment.
