Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney MP, Gerald Jones, has welcomed the UK Government’s decision to cut the maximum stake for Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) to £2.
Currently, Fixed Odds Betting Terminals allow punters to stake £100 every 20 seconds on electronic versions of casino games, such as roulette.
The UK Government has decided to cut the maximum stake to just £2.
Gerald Jones MP said: “The Tory UK Government has dragged its heels over this issue. However, I am very pleased to see this announcement which is a very encouraging step forward to ending the cycle of misery that these machines cause.”
