Caerphilly Castle Ladies and Girls FC celebrate successful season

The ladies performed well in three cup competitions, while the junior sides have gone from strength to strength

Over 150 people attended Caerphilly Castle Ladies and Girls Football Club annual presentation evening on Saturday, 23 June at Virginia Park Golf Club.

Playing in the second tier of the Welsh ladies football pyramid, the Ladies’ senior team had a tough season with the winter months disrupted by hard snow and rain playing havoc with their fixture schedules.

The season highlights came from impressive performances in three cup competitions however, with a run in the Alun Evans Cup accompanying semi final and quarter final appearances in the South Wales Cup and Welsh Women’s League Cup respectively.

Despite having to disband their under 15s side and starting the season without any junior sides, the club managed to develop a strong junior setup over the course of the year, with parents James Law and Gwyn Roberts credited for this success.

With the club’s junior section going from strength to strength over the season, they are now planning to enter teams at under 8s, 9s, 10s, 11s and 12s next season.
