Megaday festival another success despite weather

News | | Published: 12:00, Friday August 31st, 2018.

Despite the poor weather, 2018 was another huge success

Hundreds of live music fans braved the wind and the rain on the bank holiday to attend this year’s Megaday.

The annual festival is held in memory of local musicians Andrew Nichols, who was known as Mega, and Paul Grahame, who sadly both lost their lives to cancer.

The event was originally established by friend Steve Sullivan.

The festival, held at Caerphilly RFC’s Virginia Park, has raised £334,000 for Velindre Cancer Centre since it began 23 years ago.

The night ended, as always, with a spectacular firework display.

On behalf of the Megaday Team, Peter Hopkins said: “We are so grateful to everyone who has supported Megaday this year.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to the crowds of people who have attended our events.

“Your support enables us to meet our core aims of remembering lost loved ones and have a great time while fundraising for Velindre Cancer Centre.

“Megaday continues to be a success and we cannot wait until 2019 when we will be celebrating our 25th Megaday.”
