The only pumpkin patch in Caerphilly County Borough has opened its gates to visitors in the run-up to Halloween – and it has almost sold out of the vegetable.
Pencoed Fach Organic Farm, in Cefn Fforest, is open today (Tuesday October 30) and Halloween (Wednesday October 31) where people can raise money for charity while they carve a pumpkin lantern.
Buttercup Flower Studio will be on-hand to help people carve their pumpkins with money raised going to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
David Davies, is a fifth-generation farmer at Pencoed Fach, and lost his father to the disease.
He said: “People pay for the pumpkin and the carving is free, but we ask for a donation.
“However, there is a danger the event might not go ahead – we’re almost out of pumpkins.
“We’ve sold tens of thousands of them and I’m fed up with them to be honest. I can’t wait for Halloween to be over – but it has been fantastic.”
The farm is open today for pumpkin picking 9am til 6pm and carving for charity 10am til 3pm.
No need to book, just turn up. No entry fee, pumpkins from £2 to £15.
