First Minister Carwyn Jones visited the Hangar Youth and Community Centre in Aberbargoed to announce new youth funding by the Welsh Government.
A fund of £10 million will be spent for new projects across Wales with the aim of ending youth homelessness by 2027.
Mr Jones, who is stepping down as First Minister and Welsh Labour leader next month, met with young people affected by homelessness.
He said: “Too many young people are facing a future that can seem bleak, unfair and inevitable due to insecure housing. That’s why we’re committed to ending youth homelessness by 2027.”
The funding will support Shelter Cymru in providing better access to information and advice services, while the St David’s Day Fund will be doubled.
The St David’s Day Fund currently provides financial support to young people leaving care and moving into adulthood.
Cllr Philippa Marsden, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Achievement, said: “The announcement of £10m additional investment from Welsh Government to tackle youth homelessness will improve the overall life chances of young people.
“Our Youth Services and the Engagement and Progression framework arrangements, which coordinate multi-agency support to the best effect, play a significant part in this.
“I welcome the Welsh Government’s target to eradicate youth homelessness by 2027 and this funding is definitely a good step in the right direction.”
