British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses

British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted on board a train from Cardiff Central to Pengam.

The woman, who is in her forties, was punched as she tried to move out of the way of a fight.

The incident happened between 10.40pm and 11.45pm on Friday, November 9.

A group of men boarded the train at either Caerphilly or Llanbradach station and began to fight amongst themselves.

The woman then tried to move to a different seat, but became caught up in the fight and was hit.

She suffered minor cuts and bruising to her head and face, while her glasses were broken.

There were roughly five or six men involved in the violence, all aged in their late 20s.  One was of stocky build with short fair hair, clean shaven and approximately 5ft 6in. He was wearing a blue and white chequered shirt with dark denim jeans.

Anyone who was on board the train and saw what happened is urged to get in touch. Likewise, if you recognise the above description, or know anyone involved in the violence, don’t hesitate to contact British Transport Police.

You can contact British Transport Police by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800405040 and quoting reference 320 of 14/11/2018.

You can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
