Volunteers at Home-Start with the donated gifts

A children’s charity based in Bargoed has received more than 100 gifts from the toy appeal run by St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff.

Home-Start is one of more than 20 charities across South Wales who have benefited from the scheme.

The charity offers support to local families struggling with issues such as bereavement, isolation, illness and disability, as well as those struggling with parenthood itself.

More than 100 toys were donated to the Home-Start charity in Bargoed

Gifts from well-known stores such as Hamleys, Lego and Disney were among the gifts donated.

Melanie Snowden, Scheme Manager from Home-Start Caerphilly Borough, said: “We are very grateful to be part of this amazing appeal once again this year. The generosity and kindness of everyone who has donated is overwhelming.

“The donations really make Christmas for many of our families, who would otherwise struggle to provide such wonderful gifts for their little ones. We really are truly thankful to everyone involved.”

More than 10,000 toy donations have been made to the St David’s Toy Appeal

So far, thousands of gifts have been donated to charities across South Wales by St David’s toy appeal, which is running until Sunday, December 23.
