Public Service Broadcasting to perform at Caerphilly Castle this summer

Public Service Broadcasting are the final band to be announced for Caerphilly Castle on Saturday,  July 6, in a series of concerts being promoted by Orchard Live.

Tickets will go on general sale Friday March 15 at 10am through Ticketmaster.co.uk and locally through Blackwood Miners’ Institute.

Public Service Broadcasting have had a hugely successful 2018, building upon their 2017’s charting album Every Valley – which was recorded in Ebbw Vale; they released their White Star Liner EP to coincide with their BBC Music Big Weekend in Belfast; headlined the opening night of Greenman Festival; a summer of major festival slots including Primavera Sound, Bluedot, All Points East, and a sold out tour across Wales and the Royal Albert Hall.

Public Service Broadcasting is the corduroy-clad brainchild of London-based J Willgoose, Esq. who, along with drumming companion Wrigglesworth and multi-instrumentalist JF Abraham, is on a quest to inform, educate and entertain audiences around the globe.

Public Service Broadcasting’s uniquely spell-binding live audio visual transmissions see them weave samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics as they teach the lessons of the past through the music of the future – beaming our past back at us through vintage TV sets and state of the art modern video projection devices.

On Public Service Broadcasting’s last album Every Valley, J. Willgoose, Esq. takes us on a journey down the mineshafts of the South Wales valleys, with the stories found there to be a black mirror to the plight of workers everywhere. Although Every Valley is the story of one industry in a region and time far from ours, the tales of a disenfranchised working class in this age of turmoil could not be more relevant.

The castle will also host The Stranglers and Ruts DC the previous day (July 5) and the following weekend will host The Zutons performing Who Killed The Zutons in full with support from The Subways on July 12, and finish with a sold out show with US Rockers Black Stone Cherry on July 13.
