Caerphilly woman shortlisted for national award

Shaunnah Crosbie is up for the Young Freelancer of the Year award

A Caerphilly woman has been shortlisted for the Young Freelancer of the Year award at the UK’s biggest freelancer awards, the IPSE Freelancer of the Year Awards.

Shaunnah Crosbie, 22, uses her skills in sewing and dressmaking to create vintage-inspired clothes and furnishings and holds regular public classes for those eager to boost their own skills.

Shaunnah said: “The award would mean the world to me, as I have struggled all the way through school, college, and university with my Dyspraxia and Irlen Syndrome. I worked relentlessly, day and night to make sure my work was the best it could be.

“It proves to myself and others who are aspiring to do the same as me that you can achieve it if you work hard enough, regardless of circumstances.”

Chief Executive at at IPSE, Chris Bryce said: “Freelancing allows people to be innovative, following their dreams to start businesses that could grow into a great success that benefits us all. Shaunnah’s refreshing positive towards her business stood-out to the panel.”

The awards, now in their sixth year, are being on Thursday, June 13 at Kings Place in London.
