Law firm JCP Solicitors has installed a public access defibrillator in Caerphilly town centre.

Working with charity Welsh Hearts, the lifesaving equipment has been installed outside the JCP office, in T? Cennydd, Castle Street, as part of a drive to place a defibrillator within each of the nine communities where JCP has an office.

Cherrie Powell, a Legal Advisor in the Lifetime Planning team at JCP Solicitors, threw herself into the fundraising, along with her colleagues, by organising a line dancing evening and running a 5k in a red heart costume.

She said: “We are very pleased to see this valuable equipment installed in Caerphilly town centre, in support of the great work carried out by Welsh Hearts.

“As a community-based business we are happy to get behind this great charity and to do what we can to raise awareness of this important issue of heart health.”

Carole Ann Bott, Wales Director from the Stroke Association, who have supported the installation said: “We are thrilled that this life-saving equipment has been installed outside T? Cennydd, in the heart of Caerphilly town. Our thanks go to JCP Solicitors for ensuring that the people of Caerphilly have access to this facility.”

Welsh Hearts is well-known for placing more than 1,300 defibrillators in public and communal spaces – from rugby grounds and pubs, to libraries and churches – within communities across Wales, in a drive to safeguard people at risk of premature death from cardiovascular disease.

JCP has organised a host of fundraising events for the charity, including raffles and social get-togethers, with prizes donated from local businesses.
