Five hundred pounds has been raised through a charity fun day at Caerphilly Fire Station.
The event, held on Sunday, August 25, included emergency service and military vehicle displays.
The money raised will be split between the Fire Fighters Charity and Help for Heroes.
Shelley Elgin, from Help for Heroes, said: “We provide a range of holistic and one-to-one recovery services across Wales, and we could not do so without the generosity of the public and our wonderful volunteers.
“We’re very grateful for their support, which means we can work to improve the lives of those affected by their military service, and their loved ones.”
Visitors to the open day were able to get a behind the scenes look at the fire station and learn more about how the fire service operates and were also able to enjoy a display by Models for Heroes – a non-profit company which helps veterans suffering with their mental health through model making.
The event also welcomed Help for Heroes fundraiser Alex Silver, who was celebrating his 30th birthday.
Mr Silver has FG syndrome – a rare genetic condition that causes developmental delays. A regular visitor to the station, Mr Silver was inspired by his 31-year-old Army reservist brother Lewis to complete a five-mile walk across the Brecon Beacons, raising £700.
