Newbridge Memo has launched its St David’s Day weekend celebration, bringing together community spirit, Welsh culture and creativity across three days.

The events get underway on Friday February 27, and will run until Sunday March 1.

Supported by funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund and the Welsh Government’s St David’s Day 2026 Pilot Support Fund, the programme invites people of all ages to engage with Welsh identity, heritage, music, storytelling, food, arts and movement in a welcoming festival atmosphere – most of which is free to attend and non-ticketed.

Across the weekend, residents can discover a variety of activities celebrating both tradition and local creativity.

On Friday, the venue will host a primary schools eisteddfod showcasing young talent, along with children’s storytelling sessions with Louby Lou to engage families in imaginative Welsh tales.

The evening will feature a Gymanfa Ganu (traditional Welsh hymn singing), accompanied by music and community voices.

On Saturday, the event continues with a Welsh food and craft market, putting local makers in the spotlight alongside the Stories of Me exhibition. Visitors can enjoy creative demonstrations, family storytelling, and performances by local youth, offering insight into personal and cultural narratives.

The event draws to a close on Sunday, when the Memo will come alive with movement, music and participation. Audiences can enjoy performances by Dawnsio Memo, take part in creative workshops, and join a traditional Welsh Twmpath ceilidh led by folk favourites Cats Claw.

However, the Sunday events must be booked in advance online.
