SHARP Clinical in Rhymney
I was delighted, along with Gerald Jones MP, to be a guest of Sharp Clinical and to mark the official opening of their new premises in Rhymney. The company is a real asset to Wales and I wish them every success going forwards.
The company has opened their facility in Rhymney with some grant support from the Welsh Government and it is good to see such a business choosing the area for its operations.
The new facility enables the company to now offer an extended range of primary and secondary drug packaging, storage and distribution services from the site.
Local Policing
I recently spent some time on patrol in the Upper Rhymney valley with community support officer James Godwin.
We visited various parts of Rhymney including a Police surgery at the Integrated health centre, Fochrhiw and Phillipstown. On this occasion all was in order.
In my discussion with James he stressed the importance of using the 101 number to report any incidents of concern as this allows the police to gather local intelligence and to direct their resources.
There have been some new appointments to the policing team in the Rhymney valley and I look forwards to working with them.
Of course always use 999 in an emergency.
Community Star – Derwyn Evans
I was delighted that Gerald Jones MP and I could recognise Derwyn Evans as our latest Community Star. Well known for his work with the Helping hands charity, we know that Derwyn also goes above and beyond in delivering services to the community to aid cancer patients and supports family members throughout difficult and challenging times.
Derwyn always makes time for his volunteers and colleagues ensuring volunteers are collected and dropped off by him for their shifts on the charity shop. We are delighted to have recognised him as a “Community Star” and in his usual modest way Derwyn wanted to thank everyone else who gives up their time to help.
MacMillan Coffee morning
I was delighted to join a MacMillan coffee morning at St Tyfaelog church in Pontlottyn and I thank everyone else who organises events each year on this worthwhile occasion.
