A flower festival held in St Margaret’s Church, pictured above, in Gilfach has raised more than £200.

The money raised from the festival, which was held from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6, will go towards the Parish of Gelligaer.

Around 30 flower displays were set up around the church for the event, which was officially opened by Bargoed town mayor, Cllr Reg Carroll.

Organiser Gaynor Harris, of the St Margaret’s Flower Arranging Group, said: “It went very very well. We had a steady flow of visitors.

“On the Sunday, we held a harvest festival, as well as songs of praise. Everyone who had a display chose a song.

“The church was more or less full, which was lovely.”

Ms Harris added: “It was great to see the skills the flower arrangers had learnt put into practice.”

The flower arranging group meets at the church on the third Friday of every month.
