Furniture Revival

I enjoyed a recent visit to this great social enterprise based in Rhymney. They do so much good work across our valleys communities in recycling and upcycling furniture, as well as selling new white goods and mattresses etc. They also offer furniture at great prices and offer a valuable service to our communities.

Being a social enterprise I was also impressed in the urgent response and support they can offer to people in vulnerable situations.

As a social enterprise they also provide volunteering and training opportunities. Thank you all for your work.

The Lawns Industrial Estate

I am pleased that the Welsh Government are working with Caerphilly County Borough Council to invest in the Lawns Industrial estate, Rhymney. Keeping local business units modern and up to date is important to supporting jobs and the local economy in Rhymney.

Council Tax Support

The Welsh Labour Government has made sure that council tax reductions are in place for those who need this help the most. Vulnerable people in the Upper Rhymney valley who are struggling with the effects of the UK Government’s welfare reforms may find the Council Tax Reduction Scheme can offer valuable support. I am keen that eligible constituents take up this help.

I would strongly urge anyone who thinks they might be eligible for a council tax reduction to call Caerphilly County Borough Council or visit the Welsh Government’s online eligibility check at: gov.wales/council-tax-discounts-and-reduction.”

The check only takes a few minutes, but could make a real difference to those who are struggling to make ends meet.

New Council Leader

I have congratulated Councillor Philippa Marsden on becoming the new Leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council and I will look forward to working with her on issues that affect the Rhymney valley.

Christmas Events

In the weeks ahead I hope to support a range of Christmas and school events and it is always a fun time as the excitement builds for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who helps to organise community events at this time of year.

Assembly Business

With a Westminster General Election now in progress I know it can sometimes cause a bit of confusion, but please note that Assembly business continues as normal.

My constituency office can be contacted in the usual way at 110 High Street, Merthyr Tydfil CF47 8AP (01685 386672). Best wishes to my friend and colleague Gerald Jones in the General Election on December 12th. Gerald is a loyal servant of his constituents, including the Rhymney valley.
