Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Caerphilly has topped a list of the most ‘open and responsive’ Members of Parliament (MPs).
Wayne David, who has served as MP for Caerphilly since 2001 and is seeking re-election, ranks the highest on the list, compiled by Change.org.
The list includes all 650 MPs from the last parliamentary term, which came to an end when Prime Minister Boris Johnson called an early General Election, which takes place on Thursday, December 12.
Mr David said he was “extremely pleased and proud” to top the list.
The ‘People Power Index’ was created using a variety of data, such as MPs’ availability and responsiveness online, how many surgeries they hold, how often they vote and speak in parliament and a variety of other criteria, including whether or not an MP has a caseworker.
Gerald Jones, who is seeking re-election as MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, ranks 17th on the list, while Chris Evans, who is seeking re-election in Islwyn, is 490th of 650.
