Police issue warning after two vans and a car stolen

Gwent Police have warned motorists after two vans and a car were stolen in three separate incidents in Blackwood, Fleur de Lis and Crosskeys.

The theft of a Ford van from Medart Street in Crosskeys was reported at around 12.50pm on Monday, December 2.

At around 8am on Tuesday, December 3, police received a report of a Vauxhall Corsa being stolen from Lillian Road in Blackwood.

The car’s engine had been running while the owner defrosted the car.

Later that day, at around 2.20pm, a Ford Transit was reportedly stolen while being unloaded in High Street, Fleur de Lys.

Gwent Police’s Blackwood and Risca inspector Aled George said: “Opportunist thieves can be even more tempted at this time of year.

“With the colder weather, motorists can become complacent about their security, especially when defrosting the car. It only takes seconds for your car to be targeted.

“I want to remind residents to always lock windows and doors and please, remind family members of all ages to pass these crime prevention messages on.”

Anyone with information about these incidents can contact Gwent Police on 101, quoting logs 1900444088 (Ford van), 1900444893 (Vauxhall Corsa) and 1900445459 (Ford Transit).

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
