Blackwood councillor Kevin Etheridge has vowed to do all he can to move a polling station, after voters experienced difficulty.
People heading to vote at Blackwood Comprehensive School were met with a locked gate at the usual back entrance to the site.
On polling day there was a note explaining that people had to trek to the front of the site to get in.
According to resident Carol Bridle, this had the effect of putting people off.
She said: “People had to walk about three-quarters of a mile to the front and not everyone has a car.”

Cllr Etheridge, who is an independent ward member, said: “I will be lobbying to have the polling station moved from Blackwood Comprehensive school to the pavilion at Blackwood Showfield.”
A spokesman for Caerphilly County Borough Council said: “The school usually closes on election day to allow a polling station to be set up within the building – but on this occasion the school was open to pupils as normal, therefore access arrangements were slightly different in order to provide separate access and to safeguard the pupils on site.”
