Police dressed in heavy duty protective gear carried out an early morning raid in Rhymney – but walked away with nothing.

Officers executed a drug warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at around 5.10am on Monday, January 6.

The targeted property was at Phillips’s Walk, Rhymney.

Specialist officers were supported from the Caerphilly Neighbourhood Enforcement Team and the Area Support Unit.

Police gained entry by smashing through the white PVC front door.

In a statement Gwent Police said: “No drugs were found after a search of the property and no arrests were made during the execution of the warrant.

“Further enquiries from officers are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information about the supply or use of drugs in your community, please call us on 101, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Caerphilly Observer has asked Gwent Police whether it has judged the raid as a success and is awaiting a response.
