Two men have been jailed for three years each for their parts in a “large scale” cannabis “conspiracy”.

Paul Jones, 38, of Tegfan, Trecenydd, and Mark White, 34, of Shingrig Road, Nelson, were sentenced at Newport Crown Court on Friday, January 31.

Both men pleaded guilty to conspiring to produce the class B drug, as well as conspiracy to supply.

Meanwhile, a third man involved, 38-year-old John Williams, of First Avenue, Trecenydd, was handed a jail term of 20 months, suspended for 24 months.

PC Rhys Jones of Gwent Police said: “This was a sophisticated and large-scale conspiracy which took place in Caerphilly between January and May 2019. Officers seized a quantity of cannabis plants and cropped cannabis buds following drugs warrants at a number of addresses.

“Text messages from Jones and White’s phones indicated they were playing a lead role in the conspiracy. Messages from Jones’ phone indicated he had sold a value of £55,000 worth of drugs in a five-month period.”

PC Jones added: “We welcome this sentencing and will continue to take action against those who supply illegal drugs in our communities. Please keep telling us your concerns about drug dealing.
