Two men arrested on suspicion of murder have been released with no further action, police have said.
The men were arrested after 40-year-old Kerry Morgan died following an altercation at a wedding party at New Tredegar RFC in July last year.
An inquest into Mr Morgan’s death was opened last year.
Detective Constable John Lewis, from Gwent Police, told the hearing: “At 11.46pm Gwent Police received a call from a guest at the wedding being held at New Tredegar Rugby Club.
“Kerry Morgan was being restrained by family members due to his aggressive behaviour.”
Mr Morgan was said to have been conscious when officers arrived but that his breathing was “laboured”. His condition rapidly deteriorated and he lost consciousness.
Officers performed CPR but he died shortly after.
In a statement, Gwent Police said: “Officers initially launched a murder investigation, arresting two men aged 41 and 61 from the Caerphilly area on suspicion of murder.
“However, both men have now been released with no further action following CPS advice.
“A file has been passed to HM Coroner and the family of Kerry Morgan have been informed.”
In a tribute released by the family last year, Mr Morgan was described as “the most wonderful, kind and loving husband and father”.
