Police warning after spate of burglaries

Police have warned Caerphilly residents to “be vigilant” after a series of burglaries in the town.

Police are appealing for information about five particular incidents in which high value jewellery and watches were stolen.

Burglaries have taken place at properties on Heol Tyddyn, Castle View (September 25); Van Road (January 13); Cae Marchog, Energlyn (January 24); St Cenydd Road (February 7); and Sword Hill, Mountain View (Wednesday, February 19).

All these burglaries happened during the daytime.

Inspector Gavin Clifton, of Gwent Police, said: “These five burglaries were all high value and carried out in broad daylight. At this time, we can’t rule out that they are linked.

“I urge residents to keep their homes secure at all times; lock all windows and doors and ensure items of high value are not left in sight. If possible keep them in a safe or bank.

“Also, remember to remove items from view in any vehicles.”

He added: “Please remain vigilant and report any unusual or suspicious activity in your street.”

Anyone with information about any of these incidents can call Gwent Police on 101.
