The education watchdog sent officers to Nant-y-Parc Primary School in December last year

A primary school in Senghenydd has received a glowing report from schools inspectorate Estyn.

Nant-y-Parc Primary School gained top marks for all the five inspection areas: standards; wellbeing and attitudes to learning; teaching and learning experiences; care, support and guidance; leadership and management.

The report published said: “The headteacher provides innovative, strong and caring leadership with effective support from the deputy headteacher and the senior leadership team.

“Across the school, most teachers plan highly imaginative and stimulating lessons that spark pupils’ interest and engage them extremely well in their learning.”

The inspectors recommended to “improve pupils ability to draft and redraft their written work” and to “share the examples of highly effective teaching more effectively across all classes.”

Nant-y-Parc Primary School headteacher Nicola Davies said: “We are extremely proud that Estyn have recognised the excellent work that takes place in our school.
