Caerphilly County Borough’s playgrounds to reopen today

Playgrounds and outside gyms are to reopen today, Monday, July 20, Caerphilly County Borough Council has confirmed.

The local authority said equipment inspections have been completed and have issued the following guidance for its play areas and gyms.

• Only one adult to accompany children at a time
• Bring hand sanitiser or disinfectant wipes with you, and use regularly
• Do not bring food or drink into the play area
• Allow others to leave before you enter the play area – wait away from the play area
• Leave the play area if it too crowded
• Stay two metres apart from other people
• Limit your play to a maximum of one hour to allow others to enjoy it

Cllr Nigel George, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Neighbourhood Services, said: “CCBC staff have been working extremely hard over recent weeks to ensure that residents are able to use these facilities as soon as possible.

“Although we are ensuring the equipment is safe, we are asking all residents to be personally responsible for their own and their children’s safety and use the areas cautiously. Coronavirus is far from gone, so we are urging those who visit to maintain social distancing and making sure hands are washed before and after each visit.”
