Gerwyn Price was held to a 7-7 draw in round 14 of Premier League Darts by Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney on Thursday night (September 3).

The draw, which was Price’s fourth in the competition, sees him stay sixth in the table – but he remains in contention for a semi-final berth.

Price, 35, from Markham, came back from 4-2 down to take a 7-6 lead over his opponent.

However, a 180 from Gurney in his opening play of the final leg, combined with a 130 checkout, meant Price had to settle for a draw.

The draw saw Gurney’s faint hopes of achieving a top four finish dashed.

Speaking after the match, Price said: “I knew Daryl was going to come out firing tonight and I had to be on my game and I wasn’t at the start.

“I’ve bombed too many games in this Premier League. I don’t seem to win when I should and tonight was another case of that.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if I ended up finishing fifth because of those missed opportunities.”

The Iceman added: “It depends how other results go now but I’m going to try to win the last two and see where I end up.”

Price will take on seventh-placed Michael Smith, 29 in the 15th round of the competition on Friday night (September 4).

On Saturday night (September 5), Price will face second-place Gary Anderson in round 16.

If Price achieves a top four finish, he will take part in the semi-finals, which will be played at the O2 Arena in London on October 22.

Premier League Darts was suspended after round six due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all the remaining games being played without spectators in Milton Keynes.
