An athletics coach from Caerphilly has been named as a finalist at the UK Coaching Awards.

Ryan Jones, 34, is one of three coaches up for the High Performance Coach of the Year award.

Jones, who works as the national throws coach for Welsh Athletics, coaches Paralympian Aled Sion Davies.

The awards ceremony, which aims to reward coaches from across the UK for their hard work and ccntributions, will be held virtually on December 3.

Speaking about his nomination, Jones said: “It is greatly received and a privilege to be named as a finalist for High Performance coach of the year 2020 alongside other hardworking and talented coaches.”

Emma Atkins, of UK Coaching, said: “The UK Coaching Awards is a true highlight of the year and although December’s event will look slightly different, it is more important than ever to recognise the outstanding contributions of coaches in communities across the country this year.

“I would like to offer huge congratulations to Ryan and all of those who have been nominated for awards. The standard of nominations we received this year was extraordinary, demonstrating the impact that great coaches have had this year.”
