Gerwyn Price

Darts player Gerwyn Price has won his eighth title of the year after winning the Day Three final of the PDC Winter Series on Thursday night (November 12).

Price, from Markham, beat Australia’s Damon Heta 8-6 in Coventry, to win his fourth Players Championship of the year.

Price, 35, said: “I’m happy to win, but I think I played poor in the final.

“This week I’ve lost games when I’ve played well and today I’ve won playing poorly in the final.

“I felt I was in control for most of the game but I thought he was going to pinch it at the end.

“I just needed to play well this week and that’s what I’ve done the last two days.

“I’m confident, I’m playing well and that’s all that matters.”

On his way to the final, Price beat Jeff Smith 6-0 in the last 16, before beating Stephen Bunting 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

He then booked his place in the final with a 7-3 win over William O’Connor.

The Winter Series success follows on from Price’s victory in the World Cup of Darts, in which he partnered with Jonny Clayton to give Wales its first ever win in the competition.

Price will now turn his attentions towards the Grand Slam of Darts, which starts on Monday (November 16). Price will be looking to win the competition for the third consecutive year, having won it in both 2018 and 2019.
