Caerphilly County Borough Council is celebrating news that its new Tidy Towns – Tidy Places team has been shortlisted for a national environmental award.

The team, which was set up last November, has been shortlisted for the Tidy Wales Awards, organised by the Environment Agency and Keep Wales Tidy.

It has been shortlisted in the Public Sector category of the awards.

Councillor Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for the environment, said: “This excellent news clearly illustrates that we are continuing to look for better ways of working and helping to make even more of a difference to the quality of our local environment.

“In a very short space of time, the ‘Tidy Towns – Tidy Places’ team has played a very significant role in improving hundreds of areas within our county borough, and I wish them every success with the finals of the Tidy Wales awards.”

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony in November.
