Police have warned residents to keep all doors and windows locked following a spate of attempted burglaries across Caerphilly town and Abertridwr.

On January 26, the front window, patio and outside electric box were damaged in an attempted burglary at an address on Pen y Cae, Mornington Meadows.

The following day, on January 27, a man reportedly attempted to gain entry through the back door of a house on Pen y Allt, Watford Park, using a screwdriver.

On February 1, someone reportedly attempted to force their way into a house on Bryn Aber, Abertridwr, before walking away.

That same day, police received a report that an unknown person had entered a home on Pen y Bryn, Penyrheol, through the kitchen door. However, it is not believed anything was taken.

Finally, on February 3, car keys and a purse were reportedly stolen from a home on Waun Erw, Pontypandy, with the car taken off the drive.

PC Stewart Lewis, Gwent Police’s Caerphilly Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer, said: “We are investigating each reported crime and extra patrols have now been put in place by uniformed and plain-clothed officers.

“Most of these crimes have taken place in the early hours of the morning – if anyone notices any suspicious activity, please contact us immediately on 101 or if you see a crime taking place, call 999.”
