A man who set up an illegal barbershop in his shed has been fined £1,000.
The 26-year-old was caught by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Trading Standards team and Covid Enforcement Officers on Friday, February 5.
Hairdressers and other close-contact services are currently banned due to Wales being under Alert Level 4 lockdown restrictions.
The man was caught cutting hair on a property near Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly after a neighbour reported him to the council.
Local authorities across Wales have been given powers by Welsh Government to take action against businesses and individuals found to be breaking coronavirus restrictions.
Councillor Nigel George, the cabinet member for public protection, said: “We continue to support businesses who are currently able to remain operational to both understand and comply with the law, – these rules are in place to protect both employees and the public.
“In this instance, the individual in question was not operating from an established business however, we will continue to take action against those found to be in breach of the law.”
• Wales will remain at Alert Level 4 until the next lockdown review on Friday, February 19.
