Bus operator Stagecoach is launching a service to Newbridge Leisure Centre – the site of Caerphilly County Borough’s vaccination centre.

From Monday, February 15, Service 28 will operate hourly, Monday to Saturday from Caerphilly Interchange via Maesycwmmer to Newbridge for the vaccination centre

The new service has been developed with Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Nigel Winter, Managing Director, Stagecoach in South Wales, said: “We know this will be an important journey for many people now and in the future months as the vaccination programme continues.

“We want local passengers to know that we will continue to work with the Welsh Government and the local authorities to provide lifeline transport options for key workers to get across South Wales with the health and safety of our customers and drivers at the core.”

Caerphilly Senedd Member Hefin David welcomed the move after raising the issue of transport to the centre with Stagecoach.

He said: “”I’m really pleased this has come to fruition. I’ve met with stagecoach about this a few times and have made a case for the constituents coming to me with concerns about travel to the centre in Newbridge.

“I’m also working on a potential service to the Grange hospital, so I hope we’ll see success there too, just as we did with the buses to the Gwent and the Heath in previous years”.
