Children mark World Book Day

Children across Caerphilly County Borough dressed up to mark World Book Day on Thursday (March 4).

Now in it’s 24th year, World Book Day is celebrated in around 100 countries across the globe.

The event is organised by the World Book Day charity, which aims to give every child a book of their own.

To celebrate the day, a bundle of books were delivered to Plas y Felin Primary School by Jan Goodswen, the community champion at the Morrisons store in Caerphilly town centre.

Jan said: “I’m so proud to be helping kids in my community through this donation of books. We are living through challenging times and I hope these stories will give children at Plas y Felin some fun and enjoyment.”

Meanwhile, staff and pupils alike at Nant y Parc Primary School in Senghenydd dressed up for the occasion.

However, while school children aged three to seven have returned to school amid the coronavirus pandemic, many older children marked the occasion by dressing up at home or at their childcare hub.
