Police warning on suspicious phone calls in Blackwood
Gwent Police have warned people not to give out personal information after a spate of suspicious phone calls in the Blackwood area.
On Monday a resident in the Oakdale area reported that she received a call at 4am yesterday morning from someone purporting to be from Welsh Water.
The caller said that the water supply at the address would be turned off between 6am and 1pm that day and asked if she would be at home during this time. When the resident said she would be, the caller apologised and hung up.

A Welsh cancer charity will receive a cash injection of more than £3,000 – thanks to a weekend of events organised by the Caerphilly Business Forum.
Proceeds from the Caerphilly Business Forum’s annual awards ceremony and the forum’s sell-out fashion and beauty event, All About Eve, raised a combined £3,500 for Cancer Research Wales.
Held at The Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa, the two events raised money for the charity by holding an auction at the awards ceremony and by donating all proceeds from ticket sales at the fashion and beauty event.

CCTV released after Hengoed train station attack
British Transport Police have released CCTV footage of a teenager they want to speak to in connection with an assault at Hengoed train station.
At about 3.30pm on Sunday September 13, a teenager was attacked with a metal pole by another teen.
The attacked teen was on the Cardiff-bound platform at Hengoed railway station when a youth riding a girl’s pink mountain bike approached and started talking to him.
Dr Who’s TARDIS spotted at Caerphilly Castle
Dr Who’s TARDIS has landed on top of Caerphilly Castle to help boost visitor numbers at the historic monument.
The blue police box, which is located on top of the Inner Gatehouse tower, will be lit up during the night and will remain at the castle until the New Year.
The castle was used to film some of the scenes in the final two episodes of the BBC Wales production, broadcast on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
MP criticises Christmas rail works
