More than 2,250 visitors came to Bargoed as the town hosted its spring fair on Saturday March 21.

The fair brought a range of food and drink, craft stalls, and entertainment to the town centre.

There were street theatre performers, funfair rides, and craft workshops on the day, as well as birds of prey displays.

It was organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and supported by Bargoed Town Council. It is part-funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

It was the second major event held by the council this year, following on from the Big Welsh Festival in Blackwood on February 28, which attracted a similar number of visitors.

There are more events scheduled for Bargoed throughout 2026, including the annual May Fair on Saturday May 9.

It will be followed by the Summer Music Festival on Saturday July 11, and the Winter Fair, Light Switch On, and Music and Light Lantern Parade on Saturday November 14.

A Bargoed Town Council spokesperson thanked those involved in making the fair a success and said: “It was wonderful seeing the town so full of happy, smiling faces, enjoying the wide variety of activities and food offerings that had been made available to them.

“From Punch and Judy to street performers to craft stalls and artisan food providers, the event went off fabulously, with sunshine to top it off. Well done all.”
