A cocaine dealer who was pulled over by police has been jailed for a string of drug offences.

Samuel Davies, 28, of Brett Road, Abercarn, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison.

He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on July 23.

He pleaded guilty to five offences, including possession of cocaine and possession with intent to supply cocaine, as well as being involved in the supply of the class A drug.

He also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and being involved in its supply.

Davies was pulled over by police on Commercial Street, Abercarn, on June 1 this year, after police were tipped off about his drug dealing.

Police found five bags of cocaine and a small amount of cannabis on Davies, and took his phone and £400 in cash.

PC Rhys Jones, of Gwent Police, led the investigation into Davies.

Welcoming the sentencing, PC Jones said: “This result would not have been possible without the continued support of those living in our communities.

“The vital information that the public provide, about illegal drug activity, assists us greatly in achieving results like this.

“We’ll continue to work together to disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups, bring people before the courts and remove drugs from our streets.

“Please continue to report any concerns about illegal drug activity in your area so we can take action.”
