Motorcyclist dies after collision with car on lane

A motorcyclist has died after a collision near Machen on Wednesday, September 15.

The victim has been named by Gwent Police as 50-year-old Ian Edwards, from the Caerphilly area.

Mr Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the Welsh Air Ambulance.

The crash involved Mr Edwards’ motorbike and a car on Ty Canol Lane at around 9.25am.

Police confirmed Mr Edwards’ family are currently receiving support from specialist officers.

In a statement, Gwent Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing at this stage and we’re asking anyone who was in the Ty Canol Lane area of Machen between 9am and 9.30am to get in touch with us.

“We’re appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who has not yet spoken with officers, to get in contact.

“Any motorists who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time of the collision is also urged to come forward.”
