Caerphilly-based social enterprise RecRock will be running a series of free online classes, including songwriting, music skills, art and more.

The sessions, which will run over a six-week period, will begin on Monday, November 8.

Other sessions include creative writing and ‘life hacks for creative people’.

The sessions, which are part of RecRock’s ‘My Creative Brain‘ project, will be taught by practicing professionals and have been designed for people with no previous creative experience.

Daniel Fitzgerald, founder of RecRock, said: “It’s great to be able to run this project to help people in the community connect with each other through this difficult time.

“We love being able to use creativity as a vehicle to help people gain confidence in their skills and to make new friends.”

Gigi Jones, who is the art course tutor on the project, said: “Are you interested in creativity, but think you might not have the skills or experience that other people do? Then these courses are perfect, because they are for everybody.

“It’s about experimenting with a process that will help you identify how you would like to make art. It’s all about having fun and seeing what comes out of it.”

The project has received support through the Cwm a Mynydd Rural Development Programme, and funding from the Welsh Government through its Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 – which is funded by both the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

The sessions will be open to residents living in Caerphilly County Borough or Blaenau Gwent, as well as those living in rural areas, people with a history of mental illness and people who are out of work.

RecRock will also be working with libraries and community centres to allow people with poor internet connectivity to join the sessions.
