The full list of candidates who will be standing in May’s council elections in Caerphilly County Borough has been confirmed.

Most residents will receive two voting cards when they reach the polling station. One vote will be for candidates standing for election to Caerphilly County Borough Council, while the other will be for candidates standing in the various community councils and town councils across the borough.

Community councils are broken up into wards, with community councillors elected to represent a ward. The number of seats in each ward can vary.

If the number of candidates standing in a ward is the same or less than the number of vacancies in that ward, they will be elected unopposed. Candidates elected unopposed are marked below with an asterisk.

  • What exactly are community and town councils and what do they do?
  • Who are the candidates standing for election to Caerphilly County Borough Council?
