Two fighters from Caerphilly County Borough will represent the area as they travel to Swansea in hopes of keeping their undefeated streaks alive.

Risca’s Jake Tinklin and Bedwas’ Ted Barnaby will fight live on BBC Two Wales at 10pm this Saturday, May 28 – while Ystrad Mynach’s newly turned pro, Lauren Price MBE, commentates.

Both competitors will also face undefeated fighters, with Tinklin clashing with Cardiff’s Lloyd Germain for the vacant Welsh Welterweight Championship while Barnaby battles Ricky Leach in the lightweight division.

Speaking to Caerphilly Observer, Tinklin said he was feeling confident about his upcoming fight: “I’m fighting at a higher weight for the first time in my professional career but I know I can carry it.

“This is the biggest fight of my career so far but I’m just treating it as another fight. Training is going well.”

Tinklin fought 75 times as an amateur before turning pro in 2018. He has since gone 7-0 and has the chance to lift his first belt.

On his future, the 25-year-old added: “Everyone’s dream is to get to the top. I’d love to be world champion one day.”

Meanwhile, Barnaby will be hoping his second professional fight goes as well as his first.

Barnaby said: “I’ve been at a 13-week training camp and it has got me in really good shape.

“The fight being delayed slightly hasn’t changed anything for me and has only helped with training. I’m feeling confident.”
