Caerphilly-based housing association United Welsh wants to build 169 homes at Ty Du in Nelson.

According to documents published by planning firm Asbri Planning, as part of a public consultation before before a formal application to the council, 99 of these homes will be classed as “affordable” and will be used for social renting and shared ownership. The remainder of the development will be sold on the open market.

The housing will include a mix of one-bedroom flats and two, three, and four-bedroom houses and older people accommodation. All homes will be two-storeys, with the exception of the apartment block and older persons accommodation which are to be three-storeys.

In total, 269 allocated car parking spaces (excluding garages) and 40 visitor spaces are proposed for the development.

The development site also includes two public rights of way.

Visit Obv.sr/TyDu for details of the development, including site plans and artists’ impressions.

Residents can have their say on the proposed application by emailing comments to mail@asbriplanning.co.uk. People can also download a comment form, fill it in and post it to: Asbri Planning Ltd, Unit 9 Oak Tree Court, Mulberry Drive, Cardiff Gate Business Park, Cardiff, CF23 8RS.

The deadline for submissions is November 24.
