Sycamore Court, Bargoed

Investigations are continuing a week after the Army’s bomb squad was called to an address in Bargoed.

Gwent Police was called to Sycamore Court, Bargoed, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, November 30, after reports that a suspicious device was found.

The Army’s explosive ordnance disposal unit attended and removed the object with help from police officers. The device is not thought by police to be linked to terrorism.

Police searched the property and a second suspicious device was found. This was also safely removed by the Army’s bomb squad.

Two men, a 63-year-old and a 32-year-old, from Bargoed were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosive Substances Act. Both were released under investigation.

Gwent Police confirmed the incident was unrelated to the evacuation of Islwyn High School on the same day after it received a bomb threat.
