Wilkins Terrace footbridge is set to return tonight after nearly four months

A footbridge in Pwllypant is set to return tonight, Friday January 6, after nearly four months of renovations – twice as long as initially planned.

The Wilkins Terrace footbridge goes over the A468/A469 towards the St Cenydd roundabout.

The road will be closed between Pwllypant roundabout and Trecenydd roundabout from 8pm Friday to 6am Saturday, January 7.

When asked why the restoration took longer than expected, Caerphilly County Borough Council said “additional works were identified”, as well as bad weather, contractor availability, and the ‘Christmas close down’ adding to the delay.

The council has warned that the work may be delayed and moved to Saturday night if there is bad weather.
