New trains are coming to the Rhymney line
Rhymney to Cardiff train services will be affected until the end of 2023

Train services to Rhymney will be affected for the whole of 2023 due to the construction of the new South Wales metro.

The Rhymney to Cardiff service will be affected from approximately 8pm onwards on Sundays to Thursdays.

Transport for Wales confirmed the changes and said: “The bus replacements during late evenings Sunday-Thursday have started and are due to continue until the end of the year.”

Passengers will be able to use their tickets on replacement bus services and are advised that the replacement bus stops are in the Rhymney train station car park and in the rear car park (off Penarth road) of Cardiff central train station.

More information can be found here.

Update: an earlier version of this article stated that four services, rather than six, would be affected.
