A 67-year-old woman has been killed and a 58-year-old man is in a critical condition after a van crashed into them.
The two pedestrians were struck on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, on Friday March 17, at around 7.50pm.
Police said specialists officers are supporting the woman’s family.
A 48-year-old man, from Caerphilly, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving, and driving under the influence of drugs.
He remains in police custody being questioned.
Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses with any dashcam footage to come forward by calling 101 or messaging the force on social media quoting 2300086726.
